The future STEM workforce in Arizona is the highlight of the 2021 Arizona Science Bowl. Since 2007, the Arizona Science Bowl has brought the local community together to support efforts to build a world-class STEM workforce in the state. The competition is open to teams from Arizona and Nevada. Teams consist of three to five students, along with a teacher who serves as their coach. They compete in one of the nation’s most exciting STEM competitions, facing rapid question and answer rounds across a variety of science disciplines.

High school students compete in the categories of Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Space Science, Energy, Mathematics, and Physics. Middle school students compete in the categories of Life Science, Physical Science, Earth and Space Science, Energy, Mathematics, and General Science. Winners of the Arizona Science Bowl will advance to the National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C.

The event is hosted at ASU West in partnership with the ASU New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences and the School of Mathematical and Natural Science. Now in its 15th year, the competition has moved completely online, leveraging the zoom video meeting platform to allow safe participation for all students, teachers, and event organizers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
